Recently TPC had the pleasure of working with Flawless Occasions over at the Embassy Suites downtown for yet another awesome wedding. We setup 20 LED wash fixtures along the perimter of the room to wash the entire ballroom in the color of choice.

On the dance floor we projected a custom gobo with the use of pipe and base stand to get the light high enough for a clean projection.

We were also challenged with the task of pin spotting the cake. Typically in order to properly pin spot a cake you must place a pin spot light directly above the cake and shine the light down. Unfortunately this isn’t possible in a lot of venues because there aren’t any rig points in the ceiling. The other option is to place a stand behind the cake but then you will always have a large pipe in all of your pictures.

What we did was nothing new, but just a new application. We took two pipe and base stands and placed them several feet from the cake table so they were out of site. We places the stands along the wall so they were also not a hazard in anyway. With the use of two lights and two stands from different angles we were able to pin spot the cake perfectly. The only drawback to not spotting directly above is you are now going to get some light run-off, however the effect is a halo on the wall or floor which in itself is unique.

So you may of heard of the Hit TV Show So You Think You Can Dance, Today, February 5th 2010 Bayshore Productions in Collaborationwith The Production Crew Produced our version of So You Think You Can Sell.

The show consisted of a multimedia set with 2 fixed 7×10ft rear projection screens off to the sides for showing video and PowerPoint slides. On the inside we had 2 7×14ft stretch screens which were connected to our Edirol Visual Sampler where we were able to place different images as well as video to compliment various parts of the show.

The Show was based in 2 parts, the first part 3 contestants would make there way on stage and were given a sales scenario where they had to sell a product to the host, and they were finally critiqued by a panel of 3 judges. In Between these segments there were performances from the mock Blue Man Group, Jackson 10, and the Insane Clown Posse. Each dance number had its own lighting scenes there were designed to compliment there number.

Together with the 4 10ft vertical sticks of truss TPC also setup 2 7.5 x 10 ft Fast-fold screens with dress kits. Video was projected using 2 4000 Lumen Projectors, together with a 32 inch LCD Monitor for the presenter to use as a confidence monitor. We also flanked both sides and the the center section with Black Velour Pipe and Drape. Sound consisted of 4 Shure Handheld Microphones and 2 Senhieser Lav Mics. The PA consisted of a 24 channel Mackie board and a compact TVI Line Array complimented with 2 QSC 18inch Subwoofers.

Tampa 1

Our First setup in Tampa had to be modified to fit the space. The ceilings were only 8 ft and the room had little room for rear projection. We were able to break our truss down and setup two 42 inch LCD screens midway in the room to make up for the blocked area’s of the projection screen.

Tampa 2

Together with our Kramer video switcher we have introduced the Edirol Visual Sampler which we were able to load all of our video clips into the unit for a quick cue and play system.

The Production Crew had the pleasure of working with Dr. Pepper once again on another ACC championship weekend. We orginally had planned a cost effective decor lighting package which included over 30 LED’s and 5 Leko’s with custom gobo’s and break out patterns to be setup on the Convention Center’s Riverwalk area. Due to the in-climate weather we had moved the event inside to the Convention Centers Rotunda area. We were able to utilize the upperbalcony to mount our Leko’s which projected the Dr. Pepper logo as well as some breakout patterns around the Logo to go with this years Pirate Theme.

It is always crucial when working with a major company such as Dr. Pepper to be extremely careful with your color choices. The colors can in no way represent any other soda company. This year we were with purple and amber which worked great with the pirate theme and was neutral enough to work with the Dr. Pepper brand.

Our second day with Dr. Pepper was over at Raymond James Stadium. Our goal was to effectively light up a 100×100 tent which was to be used for the games pre-party for all of Dr. Peppers VIP guests. We placed 14 Source Four Par Can’s evenly spaced in each corner of the tent with yellow and purple gels to stay consistent with our color choices from the previous night. We were also able to shoot the companies logo gobo across onto the tents roof which once again branded the area.

We look forward to all of our future events with this great client.

Miami

TPC in conjunction with Bayshore Productions is currently on tour with Verizon Wireless for the 2009 All Hands tour. We will be traveling to 5 cities in two weeks. The meetings are designed to recap with the regions employees on where the company is going and what is new from the latest and greatest. On an audio visual side the meetings can sometimes be very demanding, often enough unloading one night, running a meeting the following morning and packing all the gear and driving to the next location to setup and be ready for the morning. After years in the field TPC and Bayshore Productions have perfected these types of situations by planning for everything and carefully executing a flawless event.

This year we ran into a slight problem when our trailer blew a tire at 5am in the middle of Alligator Alley in Florida which is a completely isolated road in the middle of the everglades. We managed to get another rim and tire and get back on the road to Miami where we still managed to be set for the events first run through. In the audio visual event world it isn’t always easy to plan plan for everything but fast thinking and a calm attitude always help in getting through whatever is thrown at us.

We have actually kept the tire with us as a reminder that we are human to and things do happen. One of the guys on the crew thought it would be a good idea to take a picture with it. Sometimes a little humor goes a long way.

Moving on. you can see above that we have included a picture of what the room looked like before we setup our gear and after. This once again dictates on how you can have a meeting, or a production. We always prefer a production!

This years setup for each city consisted of but not limited to:

2 Fast Fold Rear Projection 7×10 Projection Screens with Dress kits

1 32 inch preview monitor

2 4000 Lumen LCD Projectors

20 LED Wall Wash

2 Source Four Leko’s

4 10 ft sticks of truss

2 Sennheiser Wireless Lav Mics

4 Shure Wireless Handhelds

Kramer Video Switcher

Pipe and Drape

4 LED Par Cans

Mackie Sound Board

TVI Compact Ground Stackable Line Array

2 QSC 18 inch Subwoofers

etc….

Orlando

We arrived at the Rosen Shingle Creek at about 7pm. After a quick walk through we grabbed some food before we did our load out. Load out and setup took us about 2 hours. We setup our screen and projectors together with the Kramer video switcher first so we could run a DVD while we finished setting the rest of our gear.

We did something a little different with the Truss by setting a 6 foot top section together with 2 more LED truss warmers in Verizon red. This tied everything together. A little more setup but worth the time for the new look.

St. Agustine

We arrived at the Renaissance in World Golf Village outside of St. Augustine at about 9pm from Tallahassee. After getting a quick bite to eat we setup our last event for this series of meetings. As always our setup included a similar setup however we used an extra 6 foot span of truss to make up for the wider room. From the moment we unloaded to the moment we walked out of the ballroom to catch some sleep we had the entire room set and tested in about 2 hours which seems to be our typical time for a setup such as this. We look forward to January’s series of events.
